Barbados Holidays: Drinker’s Haven

June 25, 2010 on 8:28 am | By | In Travel and Leisure | Comments Off

Barbados is believed to be the birthplace of rum by traditions and history.  Rum is an alcoholic beverage from molasses and sugarcane juice.  Production of rum in the world is heavily concentrated around Caribbean and Central America.  This fact suggests that you can savor the oldest and finest distilled and fermented dark rum during Barbados holidays, when rum deluge peaks.  Dark rums have fuller taste and stronger flavor due to retention of molasses components and spices. Categorically, since Barbados is considered an English-speaking island, Barbadians are dark-rum drinkers.  Thousand of bars offer wide selection that you can choose from.  The oldest maker in the island, Mount Gay Rum, offers tours, free tasting and 300-year old rum named after the place.  Although Barbados rum is available in many countries around the globe, visiting the island and delighting in the “liquid-gold” in its original house will bring pleasure and experience into a different level.
