There is something sublime about handcrafted jewelry. To wear it is to wear another person’s toil, their livelihood and passion. In Peru, jewelry is more than just an adornment to be worn when the mood strikes you. It is a symbol, a means of communication. The artisan sees his craft as a calling, his purpose, and his jewelry the means by which to realize that purpose. To the Peruvian artisan, jewelry is a way to inspire, to communicate feeling, to affirm identity. There is an everlasting bond between the artisan and his jewelry, a bond that can be seen in the intricate details of their creations.
