History of Blogging and Types
September 2, 2010 on 4:18 am | By admin | In Computers and Technology | Comments OffBefore blogging became common IT communities used a small number of online services to post questions and hopefully get correct replies. Bulletin boards were commonly used which used ‘threads’ to connect conversations. One of the earliest bloggers was Justin Hall who began blogging in 1994 as a student. Early bloggers and even some bloggers like to maintain online diaries of their daily activities. Blogging started out slowly as people were still getting used to the idea of using the internet. It was during the late nineties that blogging become popular. Usage of personal computers, internet connectivity and the hosting of web sites as a commercial service helped blogging grow.
Today we find blogs associated with almost any site that we happen to visit on the internet. The easy of uploading videos and audios has increased the popularity of blogging. From personal events to description of rare jewelry, artifacts can be found on blog sites. The main reason for popularity of blogging is that anyone can freely give an opinion regarding anything. You are free to acclaim, praise or criticize any item and it’s to the blog site hosts if they allow the blog to be posted for other users to view.
Blog sites run in reverse chronological order and the latest updates are posted first. Blogging is mostly text based, but there are some that focus on pictures, others on arts, on videos, on audios and micro blogs which are short posts. The growth of the IT industry and lowering of hardware prices has added to the popularity of blogging. Getting and registering a domain name and finding a suitable hosting site for a blog site is rather simple now. Maintaining and updating a blogging site can be easily done by the blog site owner from the comfort of his home.
I think blogging has helped create user awareness regarding new products that come on the market. They also help in getting a candid opinion about them. Some products blogging sites are generally full of praises about the product, but these blogs have not been written by the public but placed by the product sellers to make the product appear more attractive. On the other hand blogging has helped people get answers to questions and queries that are bothering them. On this I think blogging has proved to be very useful. Blogging has helped people to learn a lot and has raised their awareness levels.
