Teaching Piano to an Autistic Child

March 12, 2010 on 4:46 am | By | In Business | Comments Off

I’ve been in the piano teaching business for a long time now. Most of my students are young children from my neighborhood, kids of my friends or schoolmates of my own children. Recently I’ve been approached by a parent who has a special child. He is a 12 year old autistic child who is a high performing autistic. Meaning he can function better than most autistic children. I’m trying to figure out a technique that will work for him. I’m not sure if he will be able to read notes so I’d better be ready to teach him how to learn piano by ear.
