How much do you sepnd on recruitment advertising?

Would it be better to spend money on recruitment advertising in a newspaper or jobsite or to use a recruitment agency.
The thing about using a newspaper is that it’s expensive, you have to pay for colour print and even per word sometimes! If you use a recruitment agency then you pay for a mark up and really need to trust the person handling your account – especially if its your own business.
Some companies do thier own recruitment advertising and use the above as a contingent, others do inhouse recruitment advertising themselves
