Although imax was originally just a very very large screen format, in recently years they have expanded the brand to include a large number of screens in existing theaters. So now you can spend a little extra and see a larger format film but specifically with imax approved audio and experience. Many 3D format films also go in these theaters, and the 3d experience is almost always worth the extra cash!
